Chattanooga Family Loses Cars In Firebombings

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — A Chattanooga woman is afraid for her life, after four of her family cars are firebombed this past week – three of them destroyed.

The latest incident happened Wednesday night on 15th Avenue, and the suspect is still on the run.

“It made a big boom,” said victim Diana Morrison. “We were so scared, and we all got up and they had blowed up my car.”

Morrison awoke Friday night to a big bright light.

Then her car burst into flames, just feet away from her home on Hickory Valley Road.

“I have two boys. And it’s terrifying to, you know, think somebody would do something like this,” Morrison said.

Morrison says the suspect isn’t going after just her. Her daughter’s car was firebombed the next night.

“And then [Wednesday] night, she had went and got her another car because she had to get away, so she found her another little cheap car, and then after she took it home just one day, they blew that one up,” she said.

Not only are these firebombings terrifying, Morrison says not having a car has been a big burden on her family.

“I don’t have transportation at this time,” she said. “My car was paid off, so now I’ve got to figure out a way to get my kids back and forth to school.”

Morrison doesn’t know for sure who’s behind these attacks, but whoever it is, she hopes they’re arrested soon.

“Something’s got to be done to stop this madness, because we have kids in our life, and our kids’ life is in danger, because anybody that takes the time out to do something like this is not right in the head,” Morrison said. “They’re crazy, and they need to be stopped.”

And she hopes her home isn’t next.

The Chattanooga fire department is investigating.

Anyone with information about these crimes should contact Chattanooga police at 423-698-2525.
