Chattanooga FC wins shootout over Toronto to seal two points
CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee (WDEF)- Mehdi Ouamri netted his eighth goal of the season to give CFC the lead in the 36th minute. Captain Alex McGrath’s cutback set up Ouamri after a long pass from Jean Antoine.
However, Toronto equalized late through substitute Luca Accetolla, forcing a penalty shootout to determine the extra point. CFC proved perfect from the spot, converting all five attempts, while Charlie Staniland’s missed for Toronto sealed the victory for the home side.
Coach Rod Underwood opted to field the same starting lineup that defeated Orlando City B the previous week. With the result, CFC maintains its sixth-place position in the Eastern Conference with 33 points.
The club now embarks on a three-game road trip against Southeast Division opponents. They will face Huntsville City FC next Saturday before taking on Crown Legacy FC and Inter Miami II later in the month.
