Chattanooga Fire Department assisting in water rescue

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) —  The Chattanooga Fire Department (CFD) along with other organizations assisted in a water rescue.

CFD posted on X that a creek near the intersection of Quinn Adams Street and East 4nd Street has flooded.

Several animals and people were trapped in a large homeless encampment by the rising waters, and were rescued via boat.

City officials, Swiftwater Rescue Team, McKamey, EMS, and Public Works were on scene assisting with the rescue.

Rescues wrapped up around 3:30 p.m.

According to CFD, five people walked out of the flood waters on the Workman Road side of the flooded creek.

CFD also rescued 10 people by boat on the other side off Quinn Adams Street.

14 dogs were rescued from the waters, sadly one dog was deceased.

Chattanooga Public Works will block off this floodplain to prevent anyone else from entering.
