Chattanooga Fire Department responds to three incidents along TN River
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Chattanooga Fire Department said they had a busy day on Sunday. They said they responded to three separate incidents downtown.
First, the CFD said a jet ski hit a bass boat near Ross’s Landing. Those on the boat helped the jet skier out of the water. They brought the man to shore, and EMS took him to the hospital.
The jet skier had injuries, but those on the boat were not injured. The CFD says the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) is investigating.
In addition, the fire department said a man decided to swim in the Tennessee River on Sunday. They said he was floating with the current and was in danger of drowning. The CFD said the TWRA pulled the man out of the water, and that he was not injured.
Lastly, CFD said a woman and child were stranded on Williams Island Sunday. They said the two were calling for help.
The fire department said they were paddle boarding and got tired. So, they stopped at the island to rest. This is where a CFD Fireboat picked up the two and brought them to Ross’s Landing.
Authorities said they were not injured.
“The nice weather made for a busy afternoon for first responders along the riverfront,” said Lindsey Rogers, Public Information Officer for the CFD.
