Chattanooga Fire Destroys Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure Materials
CHATTANOOGA, TN (WDEF) – Organizers of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure tell us they’re counting their blessings.
They say a fire at their registration location could have been a lot worse.
5,000 race t-shirts and hundreds of other supplies were destroyed.
However, replacements will be in Chattanooga next Wednesday, days before the October 12th race.
The fire delayed when participants can pick up their race packets.
Karen Edmondson, Executive Director of Komen Chattanooga, says, "It’s really condensed the time schedule. We’re having to pull some extra hours, but we have wondersul community support, we have wonderful voluteers, interns, board of directors, and headquarter support out of Dallas. So, lot of folks have came and stepped in to help us."
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
