Chattanooga firefighter saves man’s life after cardiac arrest
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Chattanooga Firefighters and bystanders saved an elderly man’s life Thursday night at a middle school football game.
A 74-year-old man was in the bleachers at the Boyd Buchanan football game Thursday night when he had a cardiac arrest. Bystanders called 911 and started CPR on the man.
Once CFD Battalion Chief Brandon Schroyer arrived, he took over CPR. Schroyer also used an AED to shock the man a few times.
The man’s pulse and breathing resumed.
A medic then took the man to the hospital. Chattanooga firefighters say the man was conscious by the time he arrived at the hospital.
“Last we heard, he was doing well!” the fire department said.
