Chattanooga Firefighters Back At Moccasin Bend Wastewater Treatment Plant After Chlorine Leak Sunday Night
Chattanooga, TN (WDEF) Chattanooga Firefighters went back to the Moccasin Bend Wastewater Treatment Plant Monday afternoon for an overheated scrubber.
There was a chlorine leak at the plant Sunday night.
Two employees were rushed to the hospital.
Their conditions are not known, and their names have not been released.
Officials say no chlorine escaped into the atmosphere since the plant had scrubbers that converted the chlorine into harmless water vapor.
Firefighters in haz-mat suits went into the building and stopped the leak.
Firefighters have been called back several times since then.
There have been no more leaks, but the scrubbers malfunctioned and overheated.
