Chattanooga firefighters prevent car fire from spreading
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Chattanooga firefighters acted quickly to prevent a car fire from spreading to a home.
It happened Monday morning on Clio Avenue.
When Billy Williams and his brother went outside, they looked across the street and realized their neighbor’s truck was on fire. Williams called 911. The dispatcher asked him if people were inside the home and he said he believed his neighbors were inside.
“So, he said if you can go in here and try to get them out. I ran over there to the side window and started knocking as loud as I could. I saw one of the little kids in the house get out and I hollered get out of the house, the truck is on fire. As they were coming out I was motioning across the street for them to get away from it,” Williams said.
Chattanooga Firefighters quickly put out the fire and prevented it from spreading to the house.
Katerina Ramirez, who lives here with her family, is thankful for her neighbor alerted her about the fire.
“I didn’t know about that. That was a neighbor that told us what happened and we waked up. We got out of the room and everybody got out of the house,” Ramirez said.
She says it was a close call.
“The fire came to the side of my room. The fire came near my room and I was so scared,” Ramirez said.
Ramirez says her stepfather’s truck had been having mechanical issues.
“I don’t know what happened, but we didn’t use it for two days,” she said.
She’s glad everybody came together to help.
“Thanks for the neighbor, the fire, the police everyone.”
Williams is thankful no one was hurt.
“I knew she had the little babies and stuff over there. So I did what a normal person would do,” Williams said.
Firefighters say this fire was not suspicious.
