Chattanooga Firefighters save drowning man from pool

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Chattanooga Firefighters saved a man from drowning in a swimming pool on Tuesday afternoon.

The 20-year-old man was in the deep end of the pool at the Midtown Ridge Apartments on McBrien Road. Others around could not see him, because the pool was cloudy from having just been shocked.

The Chattanooga Fire Department arrived on scene soon after 4 p.m.

Upon arrival, they witnessed people screaming around the pool.

Captain Carpenter and Lieutenant Rush jumped into the deep end of the pool. They had difficulty finding the man at first.

Firefighters Burns and Mai then jumped in the pool to assist. Others assisted in looking for the man as well, including apartment maintenance and Meigs County Firefighter Samuel Brown.

Carpenter and Rush ultimately pulled the unconscious man out of the water. Firefighters started performing CPR on the man.

Some firefighters rode with the man in the ambulance to the hospital.

The CFD said personnel restored the man’s pulse before arriving at the hospital.

However, they do not know the man’s current status.
