Chattanooga Group Protest Republican Healthcare Plan

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- According to a study by Brandeis University, the Republican Healthcare Plan, might cut Medicaid for almost 114,000 Tennessee children.

A group supporting Chattanooga woman Sara Scott, joined her on the steps of the federal courthouse at noon to appeal to Tennessee’s U.S. senators to vote against any such legislation.

Scott has an 8-year-old daughter that she says depends on Medicaid to help deal with autism and developmental disabilities.

Sara Scott stated,  “We are just urging Senator Corker and Senator Alexander, please hold public hearings before they make any decisions. Do not rush this repeal. It’s not good science. It’s not good for the people of Tennessee. They need more.”

“What’s being passed right now is not about people helping people. And it is not about saving lives. It is about transferring again the wealth from the middle class people that work hard for a living, to the top 1%,” said Dr. Thomas Rumpf.

Scott is supported by the group Alliance for Healthcare Security.

It’s asking that Senators Alexander and Corker hold public meetings on the subject.
