Chattanooga Health Officials Say E-Cigs Customized For I-phone and App Technology Could Be Tempting To Teens

CLEVELAND, TN, (WDEF)-Special I-phone  cases, blue-tooth e-cigarettes and app technology are making e-cigarettes more accessible and appealing to a tech generation.

Tim LeGrand, Golden Vapors Cleveland TN,"You actually have an app that you download from the manufacturer’s site that let’s you control the voltage the power going to the atomizer coil, it also keeps track of how much you are using it so you  can monitor yourself if you are trying to cut down."

Management here at Golden Vapors in Cleveland say they are seeing more companies coming forward trying to encourage their employees to turn to e-cigarettes with health insurance deadlines looming."

But health officials in Chattanooga feel while e-cigarette usage has risen dramatically in 2014 among former tobacco smokers it’s non smoking teens who are at risk.

Camilla Bibbs-Lee, Hamilton County Coalition,"We are hoping that we get regulation really really soon, the idea that e-cig products that seem to be targeted to young people like the flavors of bubble-gum and cookies and candy."

Bibbs-Lee believes parents need to be wary this holiday season of gifts of  bluetooth and tech customized e-cig products.

Camilla Bibbs-Lee, Hamilton County Coalition,"Don’t have same type of aroma or smell as regular cigarette would have, definitely be mindful of the things your kids are in to, their friends have, ecigs can be placed in containers that can like like a video game or an i-phone."

According to the Atlantic magazine patents are also in place for a new i-cigarette which could have WIFI capabilities.

Golden Vapors added demand is rising for e-cigarettes and they are now selling products out of state and have grown their staff in recent months.
