Chattanooga Honors Veterans at Moving Veterans Day Ceremony at National Guard Armory

The Chattanooga community gathered today to honor all those who have served in the U.S. military during a special Veterans Day ceremony at the National Guard Armory.

The ceremony began with the posting of colors by local American Legion posts, marking a powerful start to the tribute.

Event Chairman Tommy Mitchell expressed his honor in organizing the ceremony, calling it a meaningful way for the community to show gratitude to veterans.

“It’s important that we do this every year, and we must recognize our veterans, both past and present, because some have paid the ultimate price, giving their lives for this country. We don’t want that sacrifice to be forgotten, which is why we make it a point to honor them each year,” said Tommy Mitchell, Chairman of the Chattanooga Area Veterans Council.

Local leaders, took to the podium to offer remarks, each taking a moment to recognize the sacrifices made by veterans not only from Chattanooga, but from across the nation.

“We want to honor veterans and name things after them, which are important gestures. It’s also crucial to educate younger generations on why service—particularly in the armed forces—is so important. For civilians, it’s not enough to simply love America and speak positively about veterans. We need to look for ways to serve veterans and their families directly, or to serve our country in ways that emulate the service of veterans,” said Weston Wamp, Hamilton County Mayor.

The ceremony was a heartfelt tribute to all the men and women who have selflessly served our country
