Chattanooga hopes to improve urban parks
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Chattanooga is receiving insight on ways to improve Chattanooga’s parks.
Outdoor Chattanooga welcomed Gil Penalosa, who is an advocate for enhancing parks around the world.
Penalosa presented several ideas, with a focus on building parks and urban areas.
He believes parks should cater to people of all ages.
“When you visit the parks, in the wealthy areas and in the low-income areas, they are not the same quality. I think that there is room for improvement,” said Gil Penasola, Founder of 8-80 cities for everyone. “Everybody should have all the basic needs within walking distance. Chattanooga needs to improve the walkability and bike ability, as well as the public transit.”
Penasola also says parks are good for both the environment and economic development.
