Chattanooga IRONMAN Race Tests Limits
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Chattanooga rolled out the red carpet for athletes from across the globe this morning, as the IRONMAN 70.3 race returned to the Scenic City for its tenth year.
Despite a rainy week leading up to race day, spirits were high as the 2025 IRONMAN 70.3 Chattanooga triathlon kicked off Sunday morning.
Due to elevated river conditions, race officials canceled the swim portion for athlete safety. Instead, competitors began the race with a time-trial bike start along Riverfront Parkway.
They tackled a 56-mile bike ride through northern Georgia’s rolling hills and historic Chickamauga, followed by a 13.1-mile run through downtown Chattanooga, finishing at Ross’s Landing by the Tennessee River.
Top pros competed for a $40,000 prize, while hundreds of age-group athletes challenged themselves, living the IRONMAN motto: “Anything is Possible.”
The event is part of a global series run by the IRONMAN Group, the world’s largest organizer of endurance races, hosting events in more than 50 countries.
With ideal weather, enthusiastic crowds, and a course that shows off Chattanooga’s best, the 10th annual IRONMAN 70.3 delivered another memorable race day.
Whether they were racing for a title or for personal achievement, every athlete who crossed that finish line today earned something to be proud of.
