Chattanooga K-9 Officer Credited with Burglary Arrest

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WDEF) –

The bandage slung around burglary suspect, Aaron Harris, tells quite the story.

It started just before two Monday morning with a burglary in progress call from a home on Hamilton Cove Drive.

Sergeant Tommy Meeks, with the Chattanooga Police Department, says, "The homeowner state there was somebody in their house."

Out sheer fear, the homeowners locked themselves in a bedroom.

Meanwhile, Officer Jeremy Wilson and his K-9 partner Kilo approached the house.

Sergeant Meeks says, "The canine and officer went to the door gave out warnings."

But the suspect never came out.

So, Kilo went in and used his best asset, his nose, to track down Harris.

Officers say Harris was crouched down under a car in this garage.

According to Sergeant Harris, "The dog apparently grabbed him on his arm to drag him out."

Police say Harris surrendered after the nip to the arm.

The end to this story, but really just the beginning for this crime-fighting partnership.

Harris was treated for his arm injures at a local hospital.

He has been charged with aggravated burglary and theft over $1,000.

Officer Wilson and Kilo have been fighting crime together for the last year and a half.
