Chattanooga man arrested for dropping meth in North LaFayette Elementary School
WALKER COUNTY, Ga. (WDEF) — A Chattanooga man has been arrested after accidentally dropping meth inside an elementary school in Walker County.
On Tuesday, March 11, 2025, a Walker County Schools employee found a plastic baggie in the floor of North LaFayette Elementary School, just inside the main entryway.
The bag contained a suspicious substance, and was turned over to the School Resource Officer (SRO).
After conducting a field test, the substance was identified as methamphetamine.
The SRO launched an investigation with the Walker County Schools Facilities and Operations Department.
According to the LaFayette Police Department (LPD), security camera footage revealed the suspect accidentally dropping the baggie out of his pocket while trying to receive his cell phone.
Officers were able to identify the suspect, Connor Shelton McCulley.
It was later determined that McCulley was dropping off his girlfriend’s child at the school.
LPD obtained warrants for McCulley’s arrest, and turned them over to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.
On March 13, 2025, at 9:00 a.m., HCSO arrested McCulley.
He is currently awaiting extradition back to Walker County.
McCully faces the following charges:
- Possession of Methamphetamine
- Possession of Controlled Substance on a School Campus
- Reckless Conduct
