CHATTANOOGA—The Chattanooga Mocs football program just completed No. 15. That’s 15 practices to get through a wealth of opportunity.

Opportunity for veterans to hone their craft and pass along knowledge to the next generation of Mocs. The chance for younger guys to work and develop and prepare for what’s ahead whether it’s battling for a starting job or to enter the 2 deep. Spring has sprung, however, and it ended tonight at Finley Stadium with the Spring Showcase presented by Food City.

It was a chance for fans to see what had come of the last few weeks work. Here are a few standout performers in the White team’s 24-20 win:

  • RB Solomon Locke carried twice for 37 yards with two TDs for the White team including a 33-yarder down the right sideline.
  • His teammate and fellow RB Chris Houston had the night’s long run of 56 yards. He carried nine times for 71 yards and a score.
  • White team QB Parker Brown shared time with Ty Gossett. The rising sophomore had 139 yards of total offense (124 passing/15 rushing). Gossett went 3-5 for 34 yards with another 19 on the ground.
  • Blue K Jude Kelley hit FGs from 29 and 28 yards completing scoring drives led by QBs Chase Artopoeus and Luke Schomburg.
  • Blue RB Reggie Davis scored twice, once on a 3-yard run and the other a 4-yard TD catch from Schomburg. Schomburg ended with 122 yards in the air, while Davis ran for 45.
  • Safety Nasir Howell had an interception for the White team which setup Locke’s second touchdown.
  • Blue punter Clayton Crile pulled off a perfectly executed onside kick after Davis’ TD. There were 50 seconds left, but it was a running clock and two incompletions downfield ran the clock out.
