Chattanooga Mocs McClendon Curtis Looking to Make NFL Draft a Family Affair
Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) For the second straight year, a UTC offensive lineman should hear his name called in the NFL Draft.
McClendon Curtis already looks like an NFL lineman at 6’6, 330-pounds
As Brian Armstrong reports, Curtis plans to make the draft a family affair.
The NFL Draft is three days and begins Thursday night. One of the Players expected to be drafted is former Moc McCledon Curtis.
Said Curtis: “Just hope I land with a great team.Honestly, I really want to be around veterans that are willing to help the young guys get the playbook. So just hoping I fall where I’m needed and want it not only just because.”
He plans to spend the next few days with his family during the draft process.
Said Curtis: “Probably make a little dinner, whip up a little something for him, and then Friday more people will come in like my dad and all them. And Saturday it’s going to be everybody. So hopefully we can go Friday, never know what’s going to happen. So that’s what we plan on having to get together every day.”
He says the senior bowl was an incredibly memorable moment for him because he made his way up the depth chart.
Said Curtis: “When I walked into the senior bowl day one on the practice field, I was a two and I haven’t been two for a long period of time, trust me. All of us somewhere have been starters and Iwas motivated to get myself to number one.I wanted to take pride of one. Cole started, played most of the game. I played the whole game this past senior bowl, and that’s the son that stuck out to me.”
He credits his UTC family as one of the reasons he has reached this point .
Said Curtis: “When I left here and went to Pensacola, I’m Around all these guys that may be going first round, second round, whatever, they’re like, they’re asking me,I’m talking to Nate on the phone. They’re like, you talking to your trainer?I was like, yeah. They’re like, we can’t do that. Our trainers will tell the coach, like, we can’t we can’t have relationships with them.”
