Chattanooga Mocs Prepare For Another Ranked Opponent in Furman

Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) Mocs have been a top ten team for weeks now, and it seems they have to earn that ranking every week given their schedule. No cupcake for UTC this weekend as they continue their SoCon grind.

Coach Wright celebrated a big win over 11th ranked Mercer last week.
This week. It’s another ranked team in 24th ranked Furman.
Said head coach Rusty Wright:”You get to the end of October or first of November, it doesn’t really matter what you are ranked or what you’re record is. You can pretty much toss them out the window because you are going to have to go show up and play every Saturday. Everybody in this league is capable of beating each other.”
Said defensive back CaMiron Smith:”We played a ranked opponent last week. We play a ranked opponent this week. I believe Furman is ranked. They’re a great team. We are going to go into the game with the same mentality. 0-0. We’ve got to take them just as serious as we take anybody else.”
Said Wright:”We get everybody’s best shot whether we’ve been ranked or not. It will probably help our strength of schedule more than anything else.”
It also helps what Chattanooga is doing in the 4th quarter.
They’ve out-scored opponents 62-3.
Said Wright:”It’s always good when you don’t let them score in the fourth quarter. If you can start fast and finish strong, it’s usually a pretty good combination.”
The players believe the fourth quarter dominance stems from practice.

Smith:”We do a thing in practice that’s actually fourth quarter. Where when we finish practice we try to do our up-downs and stuff. Push-ups. Sit-ups.”
Reporter:”Do you agree that practice is definitely harder towards the finish here?”
Said offensive lineman Nick Cerimele:”Uh yeah. For sure. We do that on purpose because we want to be good in the fourth quarter no matter if we are up 20 or down 20. We want to be able to control the fourth quarter. We want to be able to fight until the last snap.”
Lot to be said for finishing strong.
Take The Tennessee titans.
They haven’t scored a touchdown in the fourth quarter this year.
Said Wright:”Whoo. Glad I’m not the Titans so.”

Mocs kick at Furman at 2pm on Saturday.
