Chattanooga mom accused of abusing child with a glass bottle

CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee(WDEF) – A Chattanooga mom is starting the new year behind bars after being accused of purposely striking her young child across the head with a glass bottle.

According to an arrest affidavit obtained by News 12, the incident happened last Thursday night inside a home in the 200 block of West 37th Street but the mom was picked up on an arrest warrant over the weekend.

Danielle Foster, 29, of Chattanooga was charged with one count of aggravated child abuse.

According to the arrest affidavit, Foster got so mad at her 10-year old son for picking on his little brother that she broke a glass bottle on the side of his head. The alleged assault left the boy bleeding with an obvious cut across the side of his head.

A relative told police that he observed a broken wine bottle on the floor and glass in the boy’s hair.

The boy’s father reportedly took pictures of his son’s head which according to police showed a fresh cut after it had been cleaned off running blood. The officer who took the report noted that he observed a lump on the boy’s head that did not look natural.

After Foster was taken into custody, her bond was set at $100,000.

Her next court date is January 12.
