Chattanooga Parks and Outdoors needs lifeguards
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Chattanooga Parks and Outdoors are experiencing a lifeguard shortage as they prepare for the summer months.
The lifeguard shortage has affected the Chattanooga area outdoor and indoor pools.
Last year, Chattanooga Parks and Outdoors saw more than 40,000 people at local pools.
In order to help this shortage, Chattanooga Parks and Outdoors are now offering free lifeguard classes to folks.
“We help people out by teaching swim lessons, water aerobics classes, and the list goes on. We have indoor pools and outdoor pools, so overall these classes are great for all ages,” said Brian Smith, Spokesperson for Chattanooga Parks and Outdoors. “We have seen teenagers, those that are certified, even retired.”
Those interested can join the lifeguard training class once a week until April 6.
