Chattanooga Police arrest 2 suspects in April shooting of teenager
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Chattanooga Police have arrested two suspects in an April shooting of a 14-year-old on Shallowford Road.
Officers arrested 18-year-old Allen Ray and 36-year-old Dominique Collins.
On April 20 shortly after 10 a.m., police received several calls of shots fired in the 7900 block of Shallowford Road at a convenience store.
The teenage victim had injuries that were not life threatening, but EMS took the victim to the hospital.
At the time, CPD believed the shooting was targeted.
Police closed down a portion of Shallowford Road during their investigation. They concluded the victim was in a vehicle near the gas pumps when the suspects got out of another car and began shooting into the victim’s car. Police also said there were others in the vehicle with the victim who were not shot.
Officers said the driver of the car the victim was in tried to drive away, but they then crashed into the woods nearby.
Upon officers’ arrival, the suspects had already left the scene.
Now, both Ray and Collins face charges of attempted first-degree murder and reckless endangerment.
Collins also faces a charge of possessing drugs for resale.
Officers booked them both into the Hamilton County Jail.
The victim has not been identified.
