Chattanooga Police arrest man after East 3rd Street shooting

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Officers arrested one man after a shooting happened in Chattanooga on Thursday.

At 9:15 a.m. on Thursday, a 35-year-old man was shot on East 3rd Street. Police then arrived to find the man had a gunshot wound that was not life-threatening. First responders took him to the hospital for treatment.

Chattanooga Police arrested 43-year-old Jeremy Lydell Sawyer in connection to the incident. He faces charges of attempted first-degree murder, possessing a firearm with intent to go armed, and tampering with or fabricating evidence.

Officers booked Sawyer into the Hamilton County Jail.

Authorities are still investigating this case.
