Chattanooga Police arrest suspect in Windsor Street homicide

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Chattanooga Police Department said it made an arrest in the Windsor Street homicide that happened earlier this month.

On April 16, police found a person facing a life-threatening gunshot wound on the 2300 block of Windsor Street. The man later died at a local hospital.

CPD identified the victim as 27-year-old Kendric Evans.

Following a homicide investigation, police said they arrested 29-year-old Deangelo Dews in this case Monday morning.

CPD said video footage of the incident prior to the shooting showed the suspect wearing a mask. They also obtained video footage of Dews’ vehicle prior to the shooting when he was not wearing a mask, helping authorities identify him.

Dews now faces the following charges.

  • First-degree murder
  • Possessing a firearm with intent to go armed
  • Possession of a firearm during a felony

Officers arrested Dews and booked him into the Hamilton County Jail.

The investigation is ongoing.
