Officers said both Johnson and Dickens were inside a home on Vine Street when Johnson shot someone else in the front yard. At that time, Dickens yelled, “hey!” Police said Johnson then turned around and shot Dickens.

First responders took Dickens to a nearby hospital, where he died from his injuries.

A witness told CPD homicide detectives they saw the murder happen. Detectives then obtained arrest warrants for Johnson.

CPD’s Fugitive Unit and the U.S. Marshal Service found and arrested Johnson on April 4. They found him in an apartment in the 300 block of McBrien Road.

Authorities then booked Johnson into the Hamilton County Jail, and they continue to investigate the incident.
