Chattanooga police asking for public’s help in locating murder suspect

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) —  Chattanooga police are asking for the public’s help in locating a suspect who’s wanted for First Degree Murder.

At 12:38 a.m., October 5, 2024, police responded to a person shot call in the 4100 block of Fagan Street.

Upon arrival, police located a 42-year-old male with life-threatening injuries.

According to the Chattanooga Police Department (CPD), officers conducted life saving measures until he was transported to a local hospital by EMS.

He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

CPD has an active warrant out for the arrest of LaJeffery Romane Sparks.

His charges include First Degree Murder, Possession of a Firearm During a Felony, and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon.

On November 18, 2024, Sparks was named to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s (TBI) most wanted list.

Sparks is 49-year-old, stands five feet, 11 inches tall, weighs 201 pounds, with brown eyes, and bald.

CPD says there is currently a reward of up to $7,500 for information leading to his arrest.
