Chattanooga Police charge suspect in April MLK Blvd shooting

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) —  Chattanooga Police (CPD) have charged a suspect in connection to a shooting that occurred in April.

CPD have arrested 26-year-old Scovia Gladden in relation to this shooting.

Officers were dispatched to the 500 block of E. MLK Boulevard on April 25, 2024.

Upon arrival, officers discovered multiple shell casings, but no victims were found at the scene.

According to CPD, they were shortly notified of two individuals who arrived at a local hospital with injuries sustained from this incident.

Upon arriving at the hospital, officers found an 18-year-old male and a 19-year-old male with non-life-threatening injuries.

CPD’s Homicide Unit and Gun Team worked together to conduct this investigation.

The facts from this incident were presented by CPD’s Gun Team to the Hamilton County Grand Jury.

CPD stated the grand jury returned a true bill charging Gladden with the following:

  • Aggravated Assault (4 counts)
  • Attempted Murder (3 counts)
  • Firearm Charges (3 counts)
  • Felony Vandalism
  • Felony Reckless Endangerment

Gladden was already being held at the Hamilton County Jail and Detention Center from a separate incident.

CPD states that this information is preliminary and is subject to change as the investigation continues.
