Chattanooga Police Department Celebrates 174 Years

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — The Chattanooga Police Department (CPD) has turned 174 years old.

CPD was formed on January 5, 1852 with the appointment of the first city marshal.

The agency has grown to include more than 30 specialized units and nearly 500 sworn officers, CPD says.
