CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) —  The Chattanooga Police Department (CPD) is investigating a homicide that occurred over the weekend.

At 12:05 p.m., December 1, 2024, officers responded to a person shot call in the 6600 block of Green Road.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a 17-year-old male with life-threatening injuries.

Hamilton County EMS responded to the scene and transported to him to a local hospital.

Unfortunately, the 17-year-old died at the hospital.

“My mind was a little bit in shock, I could not believe what had happened only because he was a chill dude and like there was no way someone could have done to him like no way.  Mind you, he was probably the most chillest person I have met so far this year, and I had no regrets of meeting that man,” said a friend of the homicide victim.

According to CPD, a preliminary investigation by their Homicide Unit revealed the victim was inside a residence when he was shot.

The suspect was believed to be outside the residence when the shooting occurred.

This information is subject to change as the investigation is ongoing.

CPD urge anyone with information about this incident to contact the Homicide Tip Line, (423) 643-5100.
