Chattanooga Police make arrest in Oakland Avenue homicide

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) —  Chattanooga Police (CPD) have arrested a 16-year-old in connection to the homicide that occurred on Oakland Avenue August 7, 2024.

CPD responded to the 4800 block of Oakland Avenue August 7, at 3:37 a.m.

When officers arrived on scene they found a 16-year-old male with life-threatening injuries.

The victim and passenger, a 15-year-old male, were both found in a crashed vehicle.

The 16-year-old victim was taken to a local hospital by Hamilton County EMS, where he later died.

The 15-year-old male received non life-threatening injuries.

CPD’s Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Unit also responded to the scene to conduct an investigation.

Preliminary information revealed the victim was in the driver’s seat when he was shot.

After driving a short distance, the vehicle crashed.

CPD was able to identify the suspect as a 16-year-old male.

CPD’s Fugitive Unit along with the US Marshals Service, CPD’s SWAT Team, and the East Ridge Police Department brought the juvenile into custody September 17, 2024.

He is being charged with Criminal Homicide.
