Chattanooga Police Make Arrest in Rash of Car Burglaries

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) Chattanooga police say they have closed 14 cases with one arrest.

The case began with 10 auto burglaries in a 24 hour period last week in the Hixson, Stuart Heights and North Shore areas.

In one of those burglaries, a license plate was taken.

Investigators checked that plate with their automated enforcement records.

And they got a hit on a traffic camera on Norcross Road, with a photo of the vehicle.

Last night, Officer Jarrod Justice spotted the vehicle.

He did not chase it, but soon found it had wrecked in the 700 block of Dallas Roads.

Driver Daniel Morgan was arrested and eventually connected to 14 burglaries.

14.01/06/16 – 7302 ELAINE CIRCLE

Investigators say he cruised through neighborhoods looking for unlocked vehicles.

So police remind you to lock your vehicle, even at home.
