Chattanooga Police makes arrest after shooting investigation

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) —  Chattanooga Police (CPD) have made an arrest after a shooting investigation.

The shooting occurred in the 2900 block of Rossville Boulevard, on September 21, 2024 at 3:17 a.m.

CPD responded to the scene and found a 32-year-old man with non life-threatening injuries.

Hamilton County EMS responded to the scene and took the man to a local hospital.

CPD’s Homicide Unit and their Crime Scene Unit responded to conduct an investigation.

CPD reported the preliminary information from the investigation revealed a disorder and a vehicle crash occurred before the shooting.

The suspect who shot the victim left the scene in a vehicle.

CPD was able to get a description of the suspect from witnesses.

Officers searched the area and were able to find the vehicle at a residence.

The suspect was inside the residence, and exited following officers commands.

After the Homicide Detective gathered enough evidence, Hector Lopez-Garcia has been charged with:

  • Aggravated Assault
  • Reckless Endangerment
  • Possessing a Firearm with Intent to Go Armed

He was arrested and is currently being held at the Hamilton County Jail and Detention Center.
