Chattanooga police officer charged with simple assault/domestic violence

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) —  The Chattanooga Police Department (CPD) has opened an internal investigation into an officer facing Simple Assault/Domestic Violence charges.

CPD opened the investigation March 19, 2025 after officers with the Neighborhood Policing Bureau responded to an Assault in Progress in the 3100 block of Mountain Creek Road.

Upon arrival, officers determined the relationship between the two parties and called CPD’s Special Victims Unit was called in to take over the investigation.

According to CPD, the preliminary investigation reveals that CPD officer Chance Kuban and the victim were involved in an ongoing verbal argument.

The argument began that night, and during the argument, Kuban damaged property and personal items.

Kuban was later arrested and charged with Simple Assault/Domestic Violence, Interfering with a 911 call, and Vandalism.

He was taken to the Hamilton County Jail and Detention Center, and placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
