“Chattanooga Rising” Raises Awareness About Domestic Violence

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Wednesday’s gloomy weather didn’t keep dozens of people from taking a stand against domestic violence this Valentine’s Day.

They came out to the Bessie Smith Cultural Center for the second annual Chattanooga Rising event.

The Partnership for Families, Children and Adults held the dance party to raise awareness about domestic violence.

Organizers say one in three women in their lifetime will be a victim of sexual assault or rape.

Even though it’s difficult, talking about this topic is important.

“We just want to make sure today that people know there is an organization in town where you can receive assistance, and we need to speak out , and we need to talk about how we can curb domestic violence with women in our community,” said Pam Ladd, Partnership FCA.

Partnership has a 24/7 domestic violence and sexual assault crisis hotline for any residents who may need help.

The number is (423) 755-2700.
