Chattanooga State Community College hosts Solar Eclipse watch party
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Chattanooga State Community College’s Astronomy club hosted a solar eclipse watch party at the college’s Amphitheater today.
The event included NASA-acclaimed astronomer Dr. Charles Law to educate students and citizens about the solar eclipse.
The watch party also included a live band, free grilled cheeses and much more.
“I think personally this is one of the coolest events we’ve ever pulled off here. I mean it’s going to be a once in a lifetime event for probably most of these students. the next one won’t be for twenty years, so I am glad we are getting a major event to drag people in to experience this,” said President of the Chattanooga State Astronomy Club, Connor Gotraw.
Dr. Charles Law will also give a lecture titled “A Revolution in Planet Formation” on Tuesday, April 9th, about the solar eclipse and more information on our solar system.
“My talk tomorrow to learn a little bit about how the planets formed and connected together and why we are so special to see this solar eclipse now,” said Dr. Law.
