Chattanooga submits journeybook for National Park City consideration

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- The city of Chattanooga has reached a milestone in its quest to become a National Park City.
The city collaborated with creative firm Little Things Lab to create the “Journeybook” which is a portfolio making the city’s case for the designation.

The Journeybook showcases the history, attractions, and goals that the city aspires to achieve if it becomes a National Park City.

The city has to meet 23 different benchmarks in order to be given this honor.

Brian Smith of Chattanooga Parks and Outdoors said, “The National Park CIty Foundation, which is made up of world leaders, as well as leaders here in the United States, are going to look at that portfolio and see how it matches up with that 23 criteria to be a National Park City. They’re going to grade us and let us know what we should work over the next several weeks. We feel confident that we don’t have much to work on and we will be able to celebrate this achievement next April.”

Currently, London, England and Adeladie, Australia are the two cities internationally with this title.
