Chattooga’s Zayden Cook Leads State of Georgia in Rushing
Summerville, GA-(WDEF-TV) At the midway point of the Georgia high school football season, only three running backs state-wide have a thousand yards rushing according to MaxPreps.
Chattooga’s Zayden Cook is among them.
He has amassed over 13-hundred yards rushing in five games.
Brian Armstrong tried to catch up with the state’s leading rusher.
Said Cook:” I’ll take the ball whenever they give it to me.:
Chattooga High School came into the season thinking it was going to have an impressive running game.
Said head coach Roone Gable:”We thought we would be a running team with an experienced offensive line with a returning running back like Zayden. Saying it worked out that way would be an understatement.”
Running back Zayden Cook is one of the leading rushers in the nation.
Said Cook:”Don’t really feel too special. I’m just doing what I can do.”
He has rushed for nearly 1500 yards in six games and has 19 touchdowns.
Said Gable:”Makes play calling a lot easier. Zayden’s averaging a first down every time he touches the ball. So we joke about that all the time.”
As any running back would do. He gives lots of love to his offensive line.
Said Cook:”We’ve got big guys up front helping me. Really it’s all of them.”
