Cheerleading coach arrested for reckless conduct, discharging firearm

BRASELTON, GA (CBS46) – A chemistry teacher and cheerleading coach at a school in Gwinnett County has been arrested on charges of reckless conduct and discharging a firearm following an incident at her home on March 20.

Nyree Rapley was arrested at her home on the 6400 block of Mossy Oak Landing in Braselton after an argument with her boyfriend in which a gun was allegedly drawn.

According to police, Rapley and her boyfriend, identified as Duane Sudderth, were arguing inside the home when Rapley locked herself in one of the bedrooms.

Sudderth says he heard a gun discharge and he kicked in the door to see what happened. Rapley had fired one shot into a wall, causing minimal damage.

Police were called to the home where they took Rapley into custody.

She was booked into the Gwinnett County Jail on charges of reckless conduct and discharging a firearm.
