CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Chickamauga Lock will temporarily close during certain hours next week for underwater repairs.

The closures will take place between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. from July 15-19.

However, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said the closures will not exceed four hours. Any lockage overnight will be finished by 7 a.m.

Divers will be making underwater repairs to the new nose pier during this time.

The Chickamauga Lock is the water elevator at the Chickamauga Dam. It moves boats between the river and the lake.

The Army Corps asks boaters to plan accordingly and use alternative sites during the closures.

They add that the Lock should be back to normal after next week’s work.
