Child dies after an accident at the Haunted Hilltop

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF)- On Friday, October eleventh, a seventh-grade boy was pronounced deceased after being stuck by a tractor.

The young boy was named Sam Jessen.

He was a student at Chattanooga School for the Liberal Arts and was described as a child who was full of life.

Hamilton County Sheriff’s deputies, and other first responders answered the initial call on 8200 block of Highway 58.

Law enforcement spoke with the chaperone of the group of juveniles.

They stated that Sam had been playing near a hayride tractor route and hid behind bushes, with the intent of scaring other hay riders, at the Haunted Hilltop Halloween Event.

Sources say that Sam tried to jump onto the moving trailer and possibly slipped, which led to him falling underneath the wheels, leaving him unresponsive.

We reached out to the Haunted Hilltop via social media, asking if anyone could make a statement, and they replied, “We are all just super devastated and heart broken. Our prayers go out to this family.”

To help with funeral costs, a GoFundMe campaign has been started for the family of Sam Jessen.

So far, the campaign has raised $27,285.

If you would like to donate to the GoFundMe campaign, it can be located here.

We extend our thoughts and prayers to Sam, his family, community members, and those who witnessed this tragic event.
