Child unharmed after truck was stolen with child in back seat

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Chattanooga Police say a 3-year-old is safe after a vehicle was stolen while the child was in the back seat.

On Sunday at 7:53 p.m Police responded to 6990 E. Brainerd Rd at the Circle K in reference to a call about a kidnapping.

Chattanooga Police released the following preliminary information about the incident:

  • Upon their arrival,  police spoke to victim’s father who said that when he went into the store to pay for gas he saw someone drive away with his blue 2007 Dodge Ram truck
  • The father advised that his 3 year old son was in the back seat asleep when the vehicle was taken
  • Chattanooga Police immediately issued a BOLO citywide to all officers
  • Members of the Violent Crimes Bureau responded to investigate
  • Approx an hour later, the child and vehicle were located by police at 1624 Shepard Rd. The child was unharmed.
  • Investigators are still actively working this case and are following all actionable leads
