Chimp or Treat at Project Chimps

MORGANTON, GA (WDEF) – Project Chimps is hosting its annual “Chimp or Treat” event this weekend, October 25 and 26, offering families a unique Halloween experience in Morganton, Georgia.

The event allows visitors to observe chimpanzees retired from research living in a forested sanctuary while learning about the organization’s conservation and care efforts.

Guests will walk through the sanctuary on a guided 45- to 60-minute tour, seeing the chimpanzees in their naturalistic habitats.

Children attending the event will receive a “treat bag” featuring palm-oil-free and vegan candies, as well as non-food items such as temporary tattoos and small toys.

Children are encouraged to wear costumes for the occasion.

Tickets are required in advance, with pricing set at $10 per child (ages 2–15), which includes one free adult ticket. Additional adult tickets are available for purchase.

Children age 2 and under may attend free.

Families can indicate a preference for non-food treats at registration.

Project Chimps operates as a nonprofit sanctuary providing lifelong care for chimpanzees formerly used in research.

The “Chimp or Treat” event is designed to engage the public in the sanctuary’s mission while offering a family-friendly Halloween activity.

Pre-registration is required to attend. For more information, visit Project Chimps’ website.
