Citizen with carry permit shoots a man with a gun

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Chattanooga Police are asking the public for information on a deadly shooting in Alton Park Sunday night.

It happened in a parking lot on West 38th Street near Central Avenue around 6:30 p.m.

Police found a man who was already dead when they arrived on the scene.

19-year-old D’Kobe Jordan was shot by a citizen with a gun carry permit.

Investigators believe Jordan was armed himself, and threatening another man in the parking lot. The gun carry holder saw it and intervened to defend the other person.

The shooter cooperated with investigators, as did several witnesses. The investigation is still ongoing.

If you have more information on the case, please call Homicide Tip Line at (423) 643-5100 or submit a tip through the Chattanooga PD Mobile app.

Last June, D’Kobe Jordan was arrested in a shooting in Glenwood.

Jordan was charged in connection with the fatal shooting, but the case was dismissed for lack of evidence.

Community members are saddened about the fatal shooting that happened in their neighborhood. They are holding a Stop the Violence march at 5 p.m. on Saturday. They will start at Fagan Street and end at Bears Barber Shop.
