City Council confirms appointment of new police chief John Chambers

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) —  The members of Chattanooga City Council confirmed the appointment of new Chattanooga Police Chief,

John Chambers.

Chambers has served with the Chattanooga Police Department for over 20 years, making him a department veteran.

“I want to thank the Chattanooga City Council for confirming the appointment of these two experienced leaders in important roles,” stated Chattanooga City Mayor, Tim Kelly.

Kelly goes onto say that Chambers has spent decades with CPD, earning trust and respect from not only officers, but the community as well.

“He is the right person at the right time to continue CPD’s progress while maintaining their high law enforcement standards,” said Mayor Kelly.

Chambers confirmation ends a two-month long selection process filled with a competitive field of job applicants.

Chambers received unanimous support from the Mayor’s Advisory Committee.
