City Councilman hold community mixer
CHATTNOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Chattanooga City Councilman Russell Gilbert met with District 5 residents at a community mixer this afternoon.
It was held at the Washington Hills Youth & Family Development Center.
Resident discussed their ideas for potential improvements to the center.
Councilman Gilbert says it’s important to hear what residents have to say about their community.
“Have people coming to the center putting down what their ideas, what they want to see and will take it back to the city. It’s not about me it’s about them. It’s about what they want to see in the area. It’s not about what the councilman wants to see in the area. So we’re trying to bring people together so that they can say this is what I want and this is what I don’t want,” says Councilman Gilbert.
Next year’s proposed budget includes $2 million for renovations and enhancements to this center.
There were also activities for children like a face painter and bouncy house.
