City of Chattanooga Announces Closure and Groundbreaking for New Skatepark and Dog Park
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — The City of Chattanooga has announced the closure of ChattTown Skatepark and Chew Chew Dog Park to prepare for a major renovation that will transform the space into a modern family amenity area.
The existing ChattTown Skatepark and Chew Chew Dog Park will officially close on Monday, November 10.
The City is investing $4.4 million, replacing the existing skatepark and dog park with a new multimodal family skatepark, event space and dog park, including new bathrooms and a state of the art concrete skate park.
The estimated completion date for all these comprehensive improvements is Fall of 2026.
The City of Chattanooga Parks and Outdoors along with Outdoor Chattanooga, will host a “groundbreaking” celebration on Saturday, November 8, from 2 p.m. – 6 p.m. with a few words from officials at 3 p.m.
During the renovation period, the existing hockey rink will remain accessible.
The pavilion parking lot will also remain open during park hours for those utilizing the hockey rink and other scheduled pavilion activities.
