City of Chattanooga mourns loss of radio personality Kevin West
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — The City of Chattanooga was dealt a tremendous loss on Monday morning as Kevin West passed away.
West most recently served as the public affairs director for the Chattanooga Police Department.
He had a medical emergency around 8:30 a.m. and was taken to the hospital, where he died.
Kevin West retired from radio station WGOW as their program director, then joined CPD on July 14, 2023.
He first started working in media in Jackson, Michigan. He worked in radio, newspaper and television news.
Additionally, West was a 24-year veteran of the U.S. Navy. Just two years ago, he retired as a captain.
“West’s time with the Chattanooga Police Department was short but instrumental in developing the Public Affairs Division. He was working toward building the unit to establish a more robust media presence and capitalize on current social platforms to deliver timely messaging,” the CPD said in a press release.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Carlene, his five children, and other family and friends.
