Cleveland High School Students Showcase Skills at Welding Competition
Cleveland High School is turning up the heat in a big way!
The school’s Inaugural Welding Contest is shining a spotlight on the future of skilled trades, featuring talented students from their Career and Technical Education (CTE) Welding Program.
“‘This is to help these kids get familiar with what a weld test will be like to land a job in the industry and start making connections with industry professionals who have set up booths in the hallway,’ said Michael Ritchie, welding instructor.”
At the heart of today’s competition are students who are already mastering the craft of welding, ready to take on careers that are key to building and shaping our world. With every weld, they’re not just competing—they’re proving their skills and pushing their limits.
“It’s not just about competing—it’s about proving our skills and pushing our limits. It’s a really exciting opportunity, something a lot of high school students might not get. Whether it’s showcasing skills we’ve developed on our own or in class, the fact that teachers like ours, along with other schools, are willing to come here and compete with us and show what we can do is really special. I’m just grateful to have this opportunity,” said sophomore Gabe Krepps.
