Cleveland Homes Get Extreme Energy Makeovers
CLEVELAND, Tenn. (WDEF) — Hundreds of Cleveland residents are saving green by going green.
Impact Cleveland is making their neighbors’ homes more energy efficient, thanks to a TVA grant.
The non-profit group received $3.75 million to give extreme energy makeovers to 300 homes in the Blythe Oldfield neighborhood.
Their goal is to save residents 25 percent.
More than 100 homes have received upgrades so far.
Most of them get new heat and air systems, and insulation.
Some homes even receive new windows or doors, weatherization, and possibly a new appliance.
The best part? It’s free for qualified homeowners.
“One of the largest problems we’ve experienced in this neighborhood were extremely high utility bills due to poor energy insulation, so this is saving families monthly dollars that they can put back into their family budgets, so it’s been very beneficial,” said Jake Stum, Impact Cleveland.
Impact Cleveland hopes to finish all of the homes by October of next year.
