Cleveland Mayor Tom Rowland gives last State of the City

CLEVELAND, Tennessee (WDEF) – The population of Cleveland, Tennessee was less than 30-thousand when Mayor Tom Rowland took office in 1991.

By 2020, its expected to be 50-thousand.

Tom Rowland gave his 25th and final “state of the city” talk to the Cleveland Kiwanis club today.

He praised the city’s quality of life and reminded club members that MSN recently named Cleveland the best place to live in Tennessee in 2018.

He says economic growth is strong.

“The strength of the city is very good. We’ve got a lot of positive things going on. One of the most impressive things I believe that’s happened to us is the new jetport. Who would have thought that we’d be in a position to have a custom station there because of so many international flights we’re getting. That’s on the way..and its coming soon.”

Tom Rowland says he now plans to sit back and relax for awhile when he leaves office..and maybe reflect on a full life of public service.
